Society speaker

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society will host Don Fowler, who will present the new “Rangeley Sportsman’s Museum,” at its 7 p.m. presentation Monday, Oct. 8, in the basement of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. Academy Street.

There will be a 6 p.m. potluck supper. The public is welcome.

Retired teachers

NEW SHARON – Franklin County Retired Teachers will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the New Sharon United Methodist Church, Starks Road. There will be a program, meeting and lunch. For more information or reservations, call 778-4282.

Club speaker

FARMINGTON – Ted White will speak to the Mt. Blue Garden Club at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Trinity United Methodist Church.

White, who resides on the Jackson Hill Road in Minot, has been growing day lilies for about 25 years and has been hybridizing his own day lilies since 1989. He has several seedlings that may be introduced in the near future. His presentation will include some of his best seedlings and named varieties. White is working toward producing “cutting edge” day lilies that are hardy in the Maine climate.

Currently, he is attempting to hybridize day lilies in various colors with petals that are edged in chartreuse green. The public is welcome.
