POLAND – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Excelsior Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. During the business meeting at 7:30 p.m. the fifth degree will be conferred.

Any Pomona Grange having candidates for the degree are welcome to bring them. A 50/50 raffle and attendance drawing will be held. All members and guests are welcome.

Seniors lunch

MONMOUTH – The Golden Years Club will meet Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Packard Activity Center, United Church basement, for a noon potluck luncheon. Blood pressure screening will be discussed as will a proposed foliage trip. All area senior citizens are welcome.

Seniors meeting

AUBURN – The First Auburn Seniors will meet Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Hasty Community Center. The board meeting will be at 10 a.m. and the regular meeting at 11 a.m. There will be the usual first-of-the-month raffle table. Tickets will be on sale for the Halloween party on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The cost is $4. The trip to Lantana in Randolph, Mass., costs $68. It is due Oct. 3.

Seventy-one members had a chicken luncheon. Winners of the prizes were Gabrielle Gorten, Annie Demers, Clare Haskell and Marilyn Redmun.

Lakeside to meet

WALES – Lakeside Chapter will read landmarks and share the obligation at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Grange/Masonic Hall, Centre Road. Members will share memories of the chapter.

After the meeting there will be refreshments and “Boo Bingo” will be held. Visiting members are welcome. For more information, call Violet Gerber, secretary, at 375-2698.

Knitting workshop

NEW GLOUCESTER – A Shaker wool hat knitting workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26.

The cost is $25. Shaker yarn provided. Participants should bring a set of #13 eight-inch double pointed needles. Preregistration is required by calling 926-4597.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club held its Tuesday quarterly club championship on Sept. 25 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Overall winners in Flight A were: first, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; second, Walter and Joanne Rattan; third, Linda Leotsakos and Jan Arey; fourth, Jim Flanagan and Martine Begert.

Flight B winners were: first, Peter Cummings and Richard Balian; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the center.

The club held its Wednesday quarterly club championship on Sept. 26 at Schooner Estates, Auburn. Overall winners in Flight A were: first, Anna Vitiello and Lucille Theriault; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, David Lock and Martine Begert; fourth, Mike and Pat Quinn; fifth, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.

Flight B winners were: first, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau; second, Jim Flanagan and Larry Fortier. Flight C winners were Jim Flanagan and Larry Fortier.

Another game will be held at Schooner Estates at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3.
