Kristoffer P. Mattingly was promoted to petty officer first class in the U.S. Coast Guard on Aug. 1. He is stationed at the Coast Guard station in LaPush, Wash.

In the past year, he received the Coast Guard Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement and was runner-up for both the Sector Humboldt Bay Enlisted Person of the Year and the Coast Guard Food Service Tech of the Year Award.

Mattingly is the son of Cheryl Mattingly of Lewiston and Joseph Mattingly Jr. of Litchfield. He is the grandson of Beverly and the late Richard Peterson of Auburn and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mattingly Sr. of Louisville, Ky.

He graduated from Lewiston High School in 2000 and joined the Coast Guard in May of 2002.
