NORWAY – St. Catherine’s of Norway will join Catholic parishes across the country in celebrating Catechetical Sunday during the weekend of Sept. 15 and 16, with a commissioning of catechists.

The annual event highlights the importance of the catechetical ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. The theme of this year’s event, taken from the recently published National Directory for Catechesis, is “Catechesis: Encountering the Living Christ.”

St. Catherine’s will observe Catechetical Sunday with a rite of commissioning for its catechists. As part of the celebrations, parents and guardians will also be blessed for the role they play in handing on the faith to the next generation.
