AUGUSTA – Two local certified nurse’s assistants will receive achievement awards at the 5th annual Excellence in Long Term Care Conference being held Thursday at the Augusta Civic Center.
Susan Montminy, a CNA at Clover Manor in Auburn, and Erika Thayer, a CNA at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington, will accept their awards during the presentation being held from 2 to 3 p.m. The conference begins at 9 a.m.
Winners were selected for their outstanding caregiving by an independent panel of judges for making a difference in the lives of the elderly and disabled in their care. The conference and awards program is a tribute to their compassionate dedication.
Twenty-one other direct care workers will also receive awards. All provide direct care and support to those living in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and in their homes. Nominations were submitted by area long term care facilities and agencies.
The event is sponsored by The Maine Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, the Maine Health Care Association and First Atlantic Corporation.
