Dog classes

PHILLIPS – SAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer a basic dog obedience course with instructor Carol Rogers from 9 to 10:30 a.m. beginning Saturday, Aug. 11, and running Saturdays for eight weeks at the Phillips NorthStar Ambulance Bay, Route 142. The cost is $55 a canine and there is room for four dogs a session with a max of two sessions if numbers allow.

Fashion show

EAST DIXFIELD – Mystic Valley Grange will present a fashion show and tea at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. A 6:30 supper will precede the open meeting and program. Fifteen models will present fashions, old and new. Miss Maine Teenage Sweetheart, Hilary White, will model her pageant gown worn at last week’s Nashville pageant.

Women’s workshop

FARMINGTON – Women, Work, and Community will offer a workshop, “Moving Through Fear,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 29 to Sept. 19 at the Farmington Center for Women, Work and Community, 108 Perham St.

Women, Work and Community is a statewide nonprofit organization committed to improving the economic lives of Maine women and their families. The organization works with individuals “where they are” and provides them with support, guidance and the tools they need to take the next steps toward a more promising future.

It provides individual assistance and group training in building careers, starting and growing businesses, planning for financial security and becoming community leaders. All services are free.
