Justin Lafreniere, formerly of Poland, recently graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, La. Lafreniere received the Andy Martin Award in Cancer Research for showing significant initiative in using creative thinking to help solve problems related to cancer research, treatment and patient care.

Lafreniere, recipient of a U.S. Navy Health Professions Scholarship, has been commissioned as a lieutenant with the Navy. He and his wife, Dr. Amy Lafreniere, are relocating to Virginia where he will begin a residency in internal medicine at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and she will retain her associate professorship in research at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Lafreniere is the son of Anne and Ray Lafreniere of Oxford and attended North Yarmouth Academy and Trinity College.
