AUBURN – School system employees will host a retirement party for outgoing superintendent Barbara Eretzian.

An open house will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at Auburn Middle School. It will be free and no RSVP is required

A dinner will be held at the Martindale Country Club from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Cost is $30 and RSVP is required. For more information and a reservation, call 333-6600, ext. 1304, by June 1.

Eretzian began teaching sixth grade in Auburn in 1973.

She served as principal of Great Falls School for four years and assistant superintendent of the Auburn School Department for three years before becoming superintendent in 1993.

She served for two years as president of the Maine School Superintendents Association.

In 2004, she was named administrator of the year by the Maine School Counselor Association and superintendent of the year by the Maine School Superintendents Association.

Eretzian announced her retirement in December.

She will leave her position as superintendent this summer and will serve as a consultant to the school system.
