Cancer survivors invited to take relay lap
NORWAY – The Relay For Life of Oxford Hills to benefit the American Cancer Society has invited all cancer survivors and caregivers – anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer or cared for someone with cancer – to participate in a special celebration in their honor.
Relay For Life is a community event designed to honor all who have been touched by the disease and remember those lost.
The Relay For Life of Oxford Hills will be held starting at 6 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the Don Gouin Athletic Complex. The event will run to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2.
The relay will begin with a survivor/caregiver ceremony and reception. Survivors/caregivers will unite to take the initial lap around the track and pass the torch of hope to those still coping with the disease. Survivors are encouraged to attend with their caregivers, as caregivers will be recognized for their support and compassion.
After the survivor/caregiver lap around the track all survivors and caregivers are invited to attend a dinner reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and to listen to the keynote speaker. The luminaria celebration will take place at 9 p.m.
Survivors and caregivers can register at www.acsevents.org/relay/meoxfordhills. On the left side of the Web page, click on “For Survivors and Caregivers.” At the top of the page click on “Participating survivors – please fill out this form” or e-mail Jen Cash at [email protected].
