AUBURN – Edward Little and Lewiston high school students and educators and local employers met April 12 to exchange information about work opportunities for young employees and answer questions concerning work issues that affect student employees.

The event has taken place for the past five years, supported by the Books to Business organization and the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce.

The discussion included the students’ motivations for taking a job, what they learned on the job, whether they planned to pursue their careers in Maine, what employers look for in an applicant and how could employers make the work situation more “modern.”

Employers explained how they judged an applicant, their company’s career options and recommendations for how to get a job.
