Legion meeting
LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street.
The agenda will include voting on new members, the report of the Nominating Committee for 2007/08 officers and voting for officers, with nominations from the floor accepted.
Installation will be at the Wednesday, June 6, meeting. All members, perspective members and active-duty personnel are invited.
Members are reminded that Post 66 will dispense refreshments at Post 158 following the Memorial Day parade, and a few volunteers will be needed. Those who wish to participate should call Bill at 353-4388.
Seniors lunch
MONMOUTH – The Golden Age Seniors will meet Wednesday, May 2, at the Packard Activity Center (United Church basement) for a noon potluck luncheon. Plans for the summer will be discussed. All senior citizens are welcome.
VFW to install

Gospel concert
AUBURN – The Court Street Baptist Church invites the public to a Diane Muise dinner and concert on Sunday, May 6.
A spaghetti dinner will be served at 5 p.m., followed by gospel music interspersed with humor and sharing of real-life experiences. The program will include a children’s number and the Court Street Choir joining Muise on a southern gospel composition.

Cemetery Corp.
POLAND – The annual meeting of the directors and officers of the Pine Grove Cemetery Corp. of Poland will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the parish room of the Poland Community Church. All lot owners and members of the corporation are encouraged to attend.
Grange show
AUBURN – A variety show, “Mother’s Day Tribute: How Firm a Foundation,” will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Danville Junction Grange. It will be an evening of music and laughter with Mitchell Clyde Thomas as Master of Ceremonies.
Admission is free, but donations to benefit structural repairs to the grange hall will be accepted. Refreshments will be sold during intermission. The public is invited to attend with mothers and extended families.
Health screenings
LEWISTON – The Breast Health Program at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center wants to make health screenings, such as mammograms and pelvic exams, more accessible to women.
The Breast Health Program, with the help of the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program and the American Cancer Society, will host a no-cost mammogram and pap test on Friday, May 18. Women ages 40 to 60 are encouraged to call 1-800-350-5180 (press 1) to see if they qualify. For more information, call the Breast Health Program at 777-4445.
