LISBON – Principal Rick Green of Philip W. Sugg Middle School announced April 4 that Jordan Beauparlant and Brittany Pace are the recipients of the 2007 Elliot M. Warren Citizenship Award.
Beauparlant is a seventh-grade student and is the daughter of Lori Lachance of Lisbon Falls. Pace is an eighth-grade student and is the daughter of Alma Lee Pace of Lisbon and John Pace of Sabattus.
During the presentation, Green said, “Elliot Warren was an exemplary young man who attended Lisbon Public School until his untimely death in November 1999. His strength and courage will be remembered by all who came in contact with him. This award is a tribute to Elliot and the fine citizen that he was.”
The award is designed to be given to one outstanding citizen from each grade; nominated by students and chosen by each grade level team.
“At Philip W. Sugg Middle School, we recognize students for their citizenship through this award. The award is named after a middle school student who passed away during the 1999-2000 school year. Elliot was a fine example to all what a good citizen should be,” said Green.
Students are recognized in the following areas: Caring, polite and helpful – Students demonstrate genuine concern for other students and staff; demonstrate good manners in class and all around the school; and provide assistance to students and staff. Hard-working and resourceful – Students demonstrate effort in doing class work and homework; and demonstrate respect toward students and staff. Respectful – Students demonstrate respect toward students and staff.
“The process for selection of the recipients is two-fold. Fellow students and teachers alike offer nominations. That is what makes this award very special,” said Green.
Both students will also be acknowledged during an end-of-the-year awards assembly. For more information on events at the school, visit www.union30.org or contact Lisbon School Department Community Resource Coordinator Monica Millhime by e-mailing [email protected] or calling 754-0021.
