Seniors parade

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Market Square Restaurant, South Paris. Dinner will be from the menu.

There will be an Easter hat parade and judging for the funniest, prettiest and most original. Linda Hooker of Oxford County TRIAD will be the speaker on scams and frauds. New members and guests are welcome.

New service

NORWAY – A new, contemporary, come-as-you-are worship service will be held each Sunday from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at Christ Church, 35 Paris St. There will be singing, accompanied by James Lehr and others on guitar, informal prayer, a Bible reading, candles and meditation.

The services are being offered for people who can’t make Sunday services or who want to use the time as a way to prepare spiritually for the week to come. All are welcome. For more information, call 743-6782.

Finnish meeting

WEST PARIS – The annual meeting of the Finnish Cemetery Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Mission Congregational Church, Church Street. Reports will be given and election of officers will be held. All persons having connections with the cemetery are invited.

Rummage sale

WEST PARIS – An indoor rummage sale will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24, and from 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 25, in the activity room at Ledgeview Living Center. Proceeds will benefit the resident council.

Driving course

BRIDGTON – The AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Bridgton Community Center.

The updated refresher classroom course is geared to drivers age 50 and over. The program includes new material on how to assess drivers’ capabilities, how to adjust to changes in physical abilities and how to properly use new safety features and safety equipment in later model cars.

Upon completing both sessions, drivers will be awarded a certificate that will entitle an additional discount on auto insurance for three years. The course fee is $10. Refreshments will be served.

Reporter trainings

RUMFORD – Community Concepts is sponsoring two free child abuse and neglect mandated reporter trainings in May. The agency will provide lunch and handouts.

Michelle Brown, LSW, will be the lead facilitator. Sherle Heathers, CPS supervisor for Oxford County, is scheduled to co-facilitate the Oxford Hills training.

The Oxford Hills region training will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Community Concepts main office, 17 Market Square, South Paris.

The Rumford region training will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, tentatively set at the Rumford Library conference room. For more information, call 364-7408.

Informational meeting

RUMFORD – SMART Child and Family Services will hold an informal meeting for those interested in learning more about foster care and for foster parents interested in leaning the difference between regular and treatment level foster care.

The Oxford and Franklin County areas need foster homes for children unable to stay in their own home. Those with an interest in learning more about foster care should consider attending the meeting.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Hotel Harris, 25 Hartford St., on the mezzanine level. Light refreshments will be served. Those attending the meeting should call Jo Bradeen at 364-4820 For more information, call Bradeen or visit www.smartcfs.org.
