AUBURN — Richard A. Small, 77, of Poland, passed away peacefully at hospice with his family by his side.

He was born in Westbrook to Francis (Morin) and Shirley Small. He was retired from Westbrook Fire Department after serving 20 years. Also, he was an Air Force vet.

He was a member of Saccarappa Lodge No. 86 for 55 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends at Moosehead and Rangeley.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 51 years; daughter, Vanda Prescott, and Steve, of Windham; stepson, Harry McNally, and wife, Paulette of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; half-sisters, Linda Webster and Judy Stauffer of Gorham; half-brother, James Small of Skowhegan; three grandchildren; and one great-granchild.
