LEWISTON – As part of National Heart Month, Club W! will hold a program on heart health during a special presentation at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the Nutrition Center of Maine (formerly the Wallace Building).

After refreshments, Dr. Dervilla McCann, a cardiologist and partner at Androscoggin Cardiology Consultants in Auburn, will explain the healthy aspects of chocolate and wine, ways to prevent heart disease, the signs of a heart attack and stroke and what to do if a woman thinks she is having a heart attack or stroke.

Members of the prevention and wellness staff at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center will also be on hand to perform a heart disease “mini-screening.”

Everyone attending the program is encouraged to wear red in honor of the American Heart Association’s Go Red campaign. The person wearing the funkiest or most creative red item will win a gift basket filled with goodies.
