St. Martin de Porres volunteers recognized

LEWISTON – St. Martin de Porres Residence for homeless men and women held its annual volunteer recognition dinner on Jan. 5.

Three volunteers were recognized for their dedication to the ministry of works of mercy. A certificate was given to Mickey Madore and Sister Martha Helen Thibodeau, who volunteer at St. Martin’s Bargain Basket Thrift Store.

Bert Sylvain received a certificate for his dedication to the ministry by volunteering his time as a house attendant.

Volunteers accomplish a variety of tasks at the residence. Some of them prepare evening meals for the guests, are receptionists and work in the thrift store. They are vital to the existence of St. Martins’ ministry, said Brother Irenee Richard, OP, executive director.
