Seniors party

PARIS – The Lake Thompson Senior Citizens of Oxford will meet for the annual Christmas party at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Market Square Restaurant in South Paris.

Dinner will be chosen from the menu and instead of exchanging gifts this year, it was voted to donate money to the group’s bus trip next summer.

There will be bingo if time permits. Members are invited to bring a friend. Guests and new members are welcome.

Church pageant

WATERFORD – The Waterford Congregational Church at the foot of Plummer Hill in the village will present its annual Christmas Eve pageant and music program at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24. The children and adults will present a reenactment of the events of the Nativity, with carol singing and selections by the Community Choir. The program will end with the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight. The service this year is dedicated to Scott Turner.

Christmas Eve

NORWAY – The Christmas Eve service at the First Universalist Church, Norway, will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24. It will be a service of lessons and carols, music and readings and candlelight designed for the whole family. All are invited.

Christmas program

NORWAY – The Second Congregational Church will hold the annual Christmas pageant at 5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24. There will be a live nativity scene set up outside the church.

The pageant was written by the new minister, the Rev. Bill Wildman Jr., and consists of a mix of scripture readings, hymns and Christmas carols as well as various nativity scenes reenacted by the children of the church. The pageant will end with a candlelighting ceremony to an acoustic guitar version of “Silent Night.” The public is welcome.

Musical program

BETHEL – An evening of Christmas music will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Church of the Nazarene, Church Street. There will be special musical selections, singing of Christmas carols and a Christmas story. A special offering will be taken for a Bangladesh children’s orphanage.

Santa to visit

NORWAY – Santa plans to visit several area businesses on Christmas Eve and he’ll have a present for every child. Parents are asked to contact the business where they plan to visit with Santa for gift details.

The schedule will be 4:30 p.m. at Stephens Memorial Hospital and in Oxford at 5 p.m., Steve’s General Store; 5:30 p.m., Smedberg’s Crystal Spring Farm; 5:45 p.m., Dino’s Variety; 6 p.m., Polly’s Variety; and 6:15 p.m., Ed-O’s Pizzas, Subs and More.

Bridge winners

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 15 in the Fare Share Commons Building, Main Street.

A three-table Howell movement was played. Finishing first in Flight A were Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Suzanne Andrews and Carol Curran, who also were first in Flight B. Finishing second in Flight B were Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens.

There will be another game Friday Dec. 22. All bridge players are welcome. A partner is guaranteed, and there is parking in the rear.

There will be a beginner’s bridge class through Adult Education at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School starting in January. To sign up, call the high school. For other information, contact Les Buzzell at 783-4153.
