Homecoming
AUBURN – St. Dominic Regional High School will celebrate homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 23. The schedule for the day is as follows:
9 a.m., boys freshman soccer vs. Lewiston High School at the main field; girls freshman soccer vs. Lewiston High School at the lower field.
11 a.m., girls varsity soccer vs. Poland at the main field; noon, varsity field hockey vs. Sacopee at the upper field; 12:45 p.m., girls JV soccer vs. Poland at the lower field.
1 p.m., boys varsity soccer vs. Sacopee at the main field; 1:30 p.m., JV field hockey vs. Sacopee at the upper field.
2:30 p.m., boys JV soccer vs. Sacopee at the lower field; 3 p.m., girls alumni soccer game at the main field; 4:20 p.m., boys alumni soccer game at the main field.
St. Dom’s concession stand will be open during all games.
Hewison benefit
POWNAL – A benefit dinner will be held for Tammy Hewison at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Pownal Congregational Church, Route 9, Pownal Center.
The menu will include lasagna dinner or spaghetti and meatballs, served with tossed salad with dressing, garlic bread, brownies and ice cream.
Since the closing of the Slamma Restaurant in Auburn in January of 2006, Hewison has been out of work. Due to severe arthritis, total hip replacements are necessary. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 25, for one hip and Oct. 2 for the other hip. Both surgeries will be performed at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Saturday trip
LEWISTON – Modern Woodmen of America’s District Office at 184 Webster St. is sponsoring a Winnipesaukee scenic railroad tour and turkey dinner on Saturday, Sept. 23. The bus will leave the Ramada at 9:45 a.m. and arrive in Meredith, N.H., at 11:45 a.m.
The turkey dinner will be served on the train. After the train ride, the bus will stop in Wolfeboro, N.H., for an hour to browse around the shops. The bus will arrive in Lewiston around 7 p.m. Tickets are $51 for members and $53 for guest.

Lodge meeting
AUBURN – Ancient Brothers Lodge 178, AF and AM, will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The officers will confer the Fellow Craft Degree. The meeting will be preceded by a supper at 6:30. All Masons are welcome.
Scout night
LEWISTON – Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council will hold a parent information and registration meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Lewiston High School.
Those attending will learn about Girl Scout activities as well as volunteer options available for adults.
Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council provides programs for more than 10,000 girls ages 5 to 17 in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset and York counties. More than 3,200 adults are members as well.

Crafters needed
GRAY – Russell Elementary School will hold its second annual holiday craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, to benefit the school. Crafters are needed. Last year’s fair was so successful that the fair will move to a bigger location at Gray-New Gloucester High School.

Raffle winner
LEWISTON – Winner of Bear Creek canoe is Mike Whitney of Farmington. His name was drawn from about 1,000 entries in the joint raffle sponsored by the Moca-Roddy Foundation and the Lewiston-Auburn Optimist Club. Proceeds benefit the M.R.F. scholarship fund and the various youth projects sponsored by the LA Optimist Club.
