GREENE – Harpist, Christina Tourin will entertain at the Sawyer Memorial, 371 Sawyer Road, at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 22, and at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, June 23.
Tourin is a second-generation harpist who began playing at age 4. She holds music and education degrees from the University of Vermont and studied harp at the Mozarteum in Salizburg, Austria, and at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
As an international recording artist, she has presented concerts for live audiences and on radio and television. Tourin has served as harpist for the Vermont Symphony and off-Broadway theater productions.
She has performed at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt., for more than 17 years. She is an active workshop organizer and has been instrumental in the revival of the folk harp since the early 1970s. In 1982 she founded the Scottish Harp Society of America and is the director and founder of the International Harp Therapy Program.
Tourin’s other activities include healing with sound – resonant kinesiology, working in hospitals and hospices, teaching music and composing music.
