AUBURN – Four young people from Edward Little High School are attending Girls State and Boys State Monday through Saturday, June 18 to 24, at Husson College and the University of Southern Maine. They are Elise Perkins, Breanna Wing, Colton Jordan and Dinesh Costlow.

The programs teach young people about government by the simulation method, including mock elections for state offices for governor and the legislature.

Perkins is the daughter of Greg and Lori Perkins. At Edward Little she has played field hockey and lacrosse for three years. She has also been a member of the executive board for the class of 2007, the drama club, a participant in the one-act play and the civil rights team.

Wing is the daughter of Art and Sue Wing. She has been the president of the class of 2007 for all three years, a co-captain of the lacrosse and field hockey teams and a member of the one-act play company where she has won a regional all-cast award twice.

Both young women are part of the freshmen kickoff mentor program.

Costlow is the son of David Das and Jane Costlow. His school activities include the cross country ski and tennis teams as well as the class of 2007 executive board. This fall he will be part of the freshmen mentor kickoff program. He also participated in the freshmen orientation last fall.

Jordan is the son of Tim and Sue Jordan. He has been a member of the golf team for all three years. In addition he has been the sound engineer for many ELHS drama productions, including the musicals and the regional one-act play.

All four young people were inducted into the National Honor Society this spring.
