AUBURN – Androscoggin Valley Conservation District, with the Maine Forest Service, will offer a workshop for landowners, “Basic Instruction on the Fundamentals of GPS.”

The workshop will be for anyone interested in the new technology, and will be of particular benefit to owners of forest land who wish to update their forest management plan or utilize the technology for mapping stands, boundaries or harvests.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 8, at the Auburn Land Lab, 31 Holbrook Dr.

GPS units will be provided by the Forest Service for use during the workshop, and other handouts will be available. A brief introduction to GPS will be given in a classroom session, with an outdoor mapping segment to follow.

Preregistration is required, and a $10 fee will be charged for the workshop, limited to 20. To preregister, call the Conservation District at 753-9400, ext. 400, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30, p.m. Monday through Friday, or after hours leave a message on the answering machine.
