Gerrit Petersons, son of Eriks and Nancy Petersons of Mechanic Falls, has been placed on the dean’s list for the fall semester as a freshman at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. Petersons is majoring in economics.

He has been offered membership in the National Honor Society for first-year students, Alpha Lambda Delta. Eligibility is based on a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better during the first semester of college. Less than 15 percent of all first year students reach this mark.

Petersons is a graduate of Poland Regional High School, class of 2005.
