DIXFIELD – Audrie Knox of Peru, a senior at Dirigo High School, has been selected to receive the 2006 Principal’s Award, Principal Dan Hart has announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Throughout her four years at Dirigo High School, Audrie has distinguished herself as an Advanced Placement/Honor student in the classroom, a leader in Student Council, in the National Honor Society and on numerous school climate committees, as a multi-sport athlete and most willingly provides school and community service as a peer tutor, fundraising and school spirit organizer, office assistant and school ambassador for many state and regional groups visiting Dirigo High School,” said Hart.

Hart also notes in making the award, “Audrie has worked diligently and unselfishly to make Dirigo High School a better school and earning a well rounded educational experience. She very much deserves this recognition.”

Knox, Hart, other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon on Saturday, April 8, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
