Do you know about the Big Brother Big Sister program in our area? BBBS is a non-profit mentoring organization and a children’s charity. BBBS find BIGS to provide a positive influence as role models to children, LITTLES. BIGS encourage LITTLES to be confident and caring people. BIGS volunteer their time and work with students during the school year.
On Sunday, March 30, my mom, Karen Whitney, and this Advocate reporter participated in the BBBS Bowl for Kids Sake at Sparetime Recreation in Lewiston. Two of our friends, Angel and Aline Strout, were part of our team representing Philip W. Sugg Middle School. The name of our team was the Sugg Strikers. We were only a small part of over 30 teams participating in the Bowl for Kids Sake Event. People bowled on both Saturday and Sunday. Each bowler got sponsors and all the money went to BBBS. The teams were a mix of students, parents, teachers, and administrators. There were teams from all over helping the cause including the three schools from Lisbon. Everyone received a t-shirt and had a chance at door prizes and raffles. Over $5,000 was raised and everybody had a wonderful time. This Advocate reporter will definitely do it again next year!
