AUBURN – Travis Putnam of Belgrade has received the Retail Lumber Dealers Association of Maine Scholarship at Central Maine Community College for 2006.

Putnam is one of four recipients of the association scholarships and is in his first year in the building construction program. He was nominated for the award by Mark Cadrette, chairman of the Building Construction Department.

“These scholarships represent a great opportunity for students enrolled in programs that are at the core of our colleges,” said Brian Thayer, president of Lavalley Lumber Co. of Sanford and a member of the Maine Community College System board of trustees.

“The home-building industry in Maine is strong, and demand for quality builders, plumbers and electricians is looking strong for the foreseeable future,” he said.
