STRONG – Strong Nursing Home recently named two employees as Employees of the Month during the fall.

Denise Brittain is the program director at the facility. Bob Kiernan is a CNA and works on the evening shift.

Brittain’s responsibilities include developing a program to assist residents in becoming more independent. The programs address all aspects of daily living, including communication, bathing, dressing and eating.

Brittain started out as the developmental training coordinator on the day shift, then advanced to the assistant program director and in April of 2000 became the program director. Brittain is in her 11th year at Strong Nursing Home.

She resides in Farmington with her husband, Fred, and children, Lucas and Katherine.

When asked why she works at Strong Nursing Home, she said it is the residents, the family atmosphere and her coworkers.

Kiernan is often found filling in on all three shifts to help out and ensure the residents are cared for with adequate staffing. He has been a CNA for many years and it shows in his gentle, caring ways with the residents.

Kiernan, who lives in Farmington, enjoys outdoor activities, music and cooking and has a great sense of humor. He has been known to bring in spaghetti and meatballs for his coworkers.

He has been heard to say that he loves the residents and they are why he goes to work every day.

He loves to make them smile and giggle and enjoys reading to them.
