DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens met on Oct. 19 at the Dixfield American Legion to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the club. There were 86 present.
A roast turkey dinner was prepared and served by Legion Post 100. The meeting was called to order by President Connie Tutlis, followed by readings.
Get well cards were signed for John Bernard, Woody Thibault, Bernadette Arsenault, Ginny Campbell, Dot Perry, Mary Gallant, Theresa Myles and Jean Nasatowicz. A moment of silent prayer was held in memory of Geraldine Arnold.
Observing October birthdays were Bob Harlow and Leola Lecours. Noting October anniversaries were Sandra and Tony Martin, 42 years; Morton and Sandy Frost, 38 years; Bunny and Fred Drapeau, 61 years; Marge and Bob Harlow, 52 years.
Dexter Frost was recognized for retiring after 44 years of service for the town of Dixfield. New members joining were Anna Roy and Karen Gallant. Entertainment was provided by Ned DesRoches, Leroy Leblanc, Frankie Porter and Don Leblanc. Door prizes were won by Louise Caron and Evelyn Canwell.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, followed by a potluck dinner. Anita Wiles of SeniorsPlus will be present to help people select the new Medicare D Prescription Plan. Members are asked to bring items for the annual Christmas fair.
Neighborly Seniors will attend the Black Watch and the Band of the Welsh Guards at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Jan. 26. Anyone interested can call Connie at 364-4189 or at 364-2428. Seats have been reserved for Stars on Ice, scheduled for April 13.
Membership in the Neighborly Seniors is open to anyone age 50 and over. Dues will remain at the current price of $5 a person for 2006.
