LEWISTON – The art work of Harold Strout of North Monmouth is being featured during October by the Woman’s Hospital Association of Central Maine Medical Center.
Strout said, “My approach to photography is a constant desire to simplify and distill aspects of our complex experiences into visual imagery. First and foremost in my approach is a reverence for the most basic and rewarding aspect of photography – light. All imagery is dependent on the quality and quantity of light in any given moment. My goal is to understand how light reveals various aspects of any given image, and to bring forth the essence of an image within the context of personal interpretation.”
He said, “The images exhibited are all black and white and represent portraiture, landscape and still-life work. Over the last several years, I have been involved in creating images from found objects, ice and created objects in order to create visuals that represent basic personal symbology.”
Strout has been a photographer for more than 20 years and has studied photography at Vermont College. His prints have been exhibited at the University of Maine, the Blaine House and the Chocolate Church Art Gallery.
The Woman’s Hospital Association supports Central Maine Medical Center and its patients, promoting the health and welfare of the community by raising money to fund special projects. Anyone interested in membership or the artist showings should call the WHA at 795-2295.
