Most of us are welcoming the year 2008, now that it has begun. Many, though not all, establish New Year’s Resolutions. I conducted some interviews to find out who created their own New Year’s Resolutions and if so, what they are.
The first person I questioned was Mrs. Goss, the junior high math teacher. When I asked her if she created some she responded, “No, I did not. I never usually keep them so I have given up on making them.” After her I also questioned Mr. Knott, science teacher of the junior high. He answered with a laugh, “I did not this year. I am still working on last year’s.” The next person I questioned was seventh grader Mary McKellick. Her reply was, “No because if I make a New Year’s Resolution I feel like I will never get around to it.” After questioning Mary I asked an eighth grader who would like to remain anonymous. I was beginning to think no one cared about New Year’s Resolutions until I asked him. “Yeah,” he began, “I would like to graduate eighth grade.” I had thought that was all until he added, “Oh, also I want to start off with a fresh slate.” Last, but not least, I asked Mrs. Lee, the junior high computer teacher. Her answer was plain and simple. “Just to be more healthy.”
I think that most people do set New Year’s Resolutions, but just don’t really realize it sometimes. Finally, I would like to wish you a happy New Year!
