FARMINGTON – The September meeting of Farmington Emblem Club 460 started with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7.
Club President Quinnale Kinsey presided. There were 41 members present and 65 absent for a total of 106.
Americanism Chairwoman Nancy Chase read a poem and gave a report on her activities for Americanism during the summer. Forty club members helped with the Vietnam Wall Memorial replica during its stay in Wilton in August.
Claudette Merchant, community service chairwoman, reported on a visit with Carley Pomerleau at her home in Jay. Nurses were also there from Maine Medical Center to pick up the toys and blankets Pomerleau had collected for the seriously ill children who are hospitalized at that hospital.
Emblem Club members have donated many items to Pomerleau’s “Gifts from the Heart” project.
The club voted to purchase light weight sweat pants to donate to a future project.
Sylvia Richards spoke to members about the Farmington Fair. She reminded members that help was needed to clean the Elks and Emblem food booth and asked members to sign up for available times to work at the food booth in the kitchen or as waitresses.
The Elk and Emblem variety show will be held on Nov. 18 and 19. Practice for those who participate in the show will be held on Sunday nights starting on Oct. 2.
Shannon Smith told members that the Emblem Club sponsored Harvest Dance will be held at the Elks Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 22, with music by the Travelers.
The club voted to donate to the Cascade Brook School toward transporting children to a camp, to a family with two members who are ill, and to a member of the Farmington Elks and his wife to go toward his medical expenses.
The mystery gift for September was won by Cheryl Deshaies and the 50-50 raffle by Diana Oliver.
