At St. Dominic R.H.S., a program is offered to students in grades nine through twelve. This program is specifically known as the “Ambassador Program.” These ambassadors do a lot in terms of encouraging students to attend St. Dom’s. They go to all the Catholic schools throughout southern and central Maine and present a video, slideshow, and plenty of information on what St. Dom’s has to offer. They also attend the annual and official “St. Dom’s Open House,” which takes place in October and is the school’s biggest admissions event. The student ambassadors lead tours and familiarize new families with the welcoming St. Dom’s atmosphere. Perhaps the most important role of a student ambassador is conducting Shadow Days. Each student ambassador has to fill out an information packet at the beginning of the school year. This helps Mr. Gleason, the admissions administrator, match freshmen and sophomores with seventh and eighth graders from around the state. Mr. Gleason wants every junior high student to get to know what a day at St. Dom’s is like. I highly recommend that all of you seventh and eighth graders schedule an appointment to shadow someone at St. Dom’s. You even get a free lunch! Even though it is a little bit scary, you will be glad that you came for the day because you will definitely get a positive experience! There is nothing better than experiencing a school day at St. Dom’s for yourself. Please consider it!
