LEWISTON – The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will host Lewiston-Auburn Greek Festival 2005 on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 and 10.
A variety of Greek foods will be offered, including complete lunches and dinners. Folk music and traditional Greek dancing will compliment the event. A Greek band will play under the tent on Saturday evening.
The church is one of the fastest growing in central Maine, and perhaps the most diverse church in the state due to a rapid influx of recent immigrants from Eastern Europe. The church is home to people with roots in Greece, Russia, Lebanon, Serbia, Albania, Slovakia and elsewhere. The festival will celebrate the ethnic traditions of many peoples.
The festival will include a bazaar with artifacts, a taverna, crafts, pastries and games for the kids. Dancing lessons and church tours will also be held throughout the day. Festivities will be in full swing from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The church is located at 155 Hogan Road. For more information, call 783-6795.
