Guild to meet

PARIS – The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the First Congregational Church, South Paris. Guests and new members are welcome. Those interested should call 743-7677.

Chess Club

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Chess Club will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday, plus Aug. 18, during August in the common space adjacent to the Fare Share Market. All ages and skill levels are welcome. The fee for the use of the space is $1.

Hymn sing

WATERFORD – Everyone is invited to the Waterford Congregational Church in Waterford Village at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, for the second summer hymn sing. Those attending can request a favorite hymns, sing along or listen, then move next door to the Wilkins Community House for the Ice Cream Sundae Social that will follow.

Benefit supper

PARIS – The American Legion Post 72 and Auxiliary, along with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9787 and Auxiliary, will hold a benefit smorgasbord supper for fire victim Harley Stevens from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. It will be held at Post 72, Church Street, South Paris. Cost will be $6, adults; $3, 12 and under. A 50/50 raffles will be held. For more information, call Marilyn Ramsay at 743-5723.
