CANTON – The Canton Lake Shore Road Association and Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District are co-sponsoring a camp road workshop on Friday, Aug. 5.

The workshop will be held in two parts, the first to be held at the Canton Town Hall and the field session on Lake Shore Road. The field session will include training for those interested in learning to operate a Front Runner grader/rake, with instruction provided by Russ Lanoie. The workshop will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Phil Curtis of Maine Local Roads Center will be on hand to talk about basic road building and maintenance of gravel roads. Susan Redmond, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, will provide information on state regulations.

The charge is $10 a person, and refreshments will be provided. Participants will receive a certificate of completion and will be able to rent a Front Runner from the Conservation District for use on their own gravel road. The workshop will qualify for contractor recertification credits.

To register, contact Androscoggin Valley SWCD at 753-9400, ext. 400. Registrations should be received by Aug. 1.
