PARIS – M. Renee Wales, flutist, and Forest Perkins, organist, will present “An Evening of Music for Flute and Organ” at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at the First Universality Church, Pine Street, South Paris.
The program will include works of Satie, J.S. Bach and Rheinberger. Favorite hymns and folk tunes will also be played. In addition, the congregation will have the opportunity to sing several hymns composed by Universalist writers.
Chamber music
BERLIN, N.H. – The International Musical Arts Institute at Fryeburg Academy will present a concert of classical chamber music at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the Community Arts Center, 155 Emery St. Tickets are $10 at the door and students kindergarten through grade 12 are half-price. Talk on grants
NORWAY – The Norway Historical Society will feature a talk by Jean Hankins,”Taking the Grants for Granted,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20.
The legend is that Oxford County was originally settled by Revolutionary War veterans who were given land by the government in exchange for their military service. Early records seem to tell a different tale.
