FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force has received a grant from the Maine Children’s Trust to support their goal to offer programs that will allow fathers to become more involved with their families and especially their children.

The Children’s Task Force received $4,000 to support two 13-week Nurturing Father Programs. This program helps fathers reflect on their own experiences as a child and learn from other dads about how to effectively nurture their own children.

It will also support two three-hour sessions of Boot Camp for New Dads program.

This program is an educational opportunity for men that are expecting their first child and for dads with infants that would like to educate and better prepare themselves for the parenting role.

The mission of the Maine Children’s Trust is to prevent the abuse and neglect of Maine’s children. A nonprofit agency, the trust is appointed by the governor to administer federal child abuse grant funds, and holds the state charter for preventing child abuse in Maine.

The Franklin County Children’s Task Force collaborates with many local and statewide partners to reduce and prevent child abuse. The task force has an extensive collection of books and videotapes to help children and families live healthier lives.

These materials are available to all residents in Livermore Falls and Franklin County and are located at 113 Church St. The telephone number is 778-6960.
