AUBURN – Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander-in-Chief John Furgess of Nashville, Tenn., has announced two local appointments.

Arthur J. Roy, past state commander, Department of Maine, VFW, will serve as a member of the Committee on Finance and Internal Organization at the 106th National Convention to be held in Salt Lake City on Aug. 20 to 25.

Roy also has served this year as national vice chairman of the National Citizenship Education and Community Service Committee for 2004-05. He is serving as Auburn’s VFW Post 1603 adjutant and senior vice commander and quartermaster of VFW District 9.

Roy is state VFW publications chairman and chairman of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery Association. He resides on Russell Street in Lewiston.

Thomas Trottier, VFW Post 1603 commander, will serve as a member of the Committee on National Bylaws, Manual of Procedures and Ritual at the National Convention.

Trottier is serving as a certified national VFW recruiter. He was named All-State Post Commander for 2004-05 at the state VFW convention held recently in Lewiston.

Trottier resides on West Shore Drive in Poland Spring.
