RUMFORD – The Rumford Hospital Auxiliary reports that the May 21 yard sale was a huge success.

“We want to thank everyone who worked toward the yard sale,” said Barbara Belanger, Auxiliary president. She appealed to members of the Rumford Area Rotary Club, of which she is a member, for help in moving display tables and sale items to the yard sale site.

Dick Burns, Paul Jones, Eddie Paterson and Peter Robichaud helped lift and tote furniture and boxes to 209 Lincoln Ave. Other nonAuxilians who volunteered their efforts were LJ Belanger, Stuart Cooper, Neal Couture, Josh Oliver and Kathi Schandalmeier.

“The sale garnered about $2,700,” said Belanger, “which will allow us to make a larger gift to the hospital’s 2004-’05 Annual Appeal before it ends on June 30.”

The annual yard sale is the largest fund-raiser for the Auxiliary, but the members also hold a poinsettia sale during November and raffles throughout the year. Currently, they are raffling a 4th of July basket, which can be seen at the second floor switchboard in the hospital.

The annual fall $300 cash raffle is also under way. Tickets for both these raffles can be purchased at the hospital switchboard, in the Auxiliary Coffee Shop or from any Auxiliary member.

All proceeds from Rumford Hospital Auxiliary fund-raisers and the Coffee Shop are donated to the hospital in gifts to the Annual Appeal and as purchases of items for patient and visitor comfort.
