NEW GLOUCESTER – A grant award from Oxford Networks is helping provide scholarships for residents of Opportunity Farm for Boys and Girls. Representatives from the telecommunications company recently awarded $12,500 to Opportunity Farm.

The grant will provide scholarship money to help support the expenses associated with the cost of providing homes for the boys and girls, in addition to academic support.

“The Lewiston-Auburn area plays an important role in the farm’s history. We continue to serve boys and girls from the area and conduct much of our business in the community.

This scholarship will go a long way to help a child from Lewiston-Auburn who lives at Opportunity Farm,” said Ron Scott, Opportunity Farm president.

The farm offers children a safe, supportive home and the tools that will help them get on a path to success and develop into fine young adults.

“Opportunity Farm has offered at-risk children from across Maine a safe home and a good education for nearly 100 years. Many of those kids have come from Lewiston-Auburn,” said Craig Gunderson, chief operating officer for Oxford Networks. “We are proud to support Opportunity Farm’s efforts to help hundreds of boys and girls find the path to stable, productive lives. We would like to challenge other Lewiston-Auburn businesses to match our grant.”
