LISBON FALLS – Thirty teams of draft horses, mules and ponies are gearing up for the annual World’s Greatest Sleigh Ride from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20.
The sleigh ride, hosted by the Pejepscot Sno-Chiefs and the Farmers Draft Horse, Mule and Pony Club, will benefit Pine Tree Camp, a summer camp for children and adults with disabilities.
The sleigh ride is good for children and adults of all ages. After a ride or two through the fields and woods, guests can warm up with a hot homemade doughnut and a cup of hot chocolate at the concession stand.
Since it began, the event has raised more than $29,000 for Pine Tree Camp. “Some of our club members have visited camp in the summer, and I guess that is reason enough to continue our efforts,” said organizer Gordon Curtis. “Mention Pine Tree Camp, and snowmobilers and the public all feel it is a very worthy cause.”
The cost for rides is $3 for adults and $2 for children. Watch for signs on Route 125 in Lisbon Falls. There will be plenty of parking. For more information, people should call Gordon Curtis at 353-2200.
For more information on the camp, people can call 443-3341 or visit www.pinetreesociety.org.
