WILTON – St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will observe the start of the Lenten season with a supper on Shrove Tuesday and a service on Ash Wednesday.

The church will offer a pancake supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, the day before Lent begins. There is no charge, but donations after expenses will go to the food pantry.

The Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, marks the start of the Lenten season, and the service will feature a special litany and the imposition of ashes, followed by Holy Communion. All are welcome.

Community lunch

FARMINGTON – Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. The menu for this month includes chicken stew over home-made biscuits and chocolate fudge brownie sundaes.

Delivery service will be available in Farmington if you are unable to join us. Call the church office during the week (778-0424 option 4 on the menu) or the church kitchen on the morning of the luncheon (778-4438). Leave your name, address/directions, phone number and the number of meals you would like us to deliver.

Olympians visit

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Post 28, American Legion, and Auxiliary members played host to the Special Olympians and their chaperones on Jan. 30.

Lunch was served at 1 p.m. when the first group arrived and continued until 3:30 p.m. when the last group left. After the final count, 210 people had stopped on their way to Sugarloaf to participate in the Special Olympic games.
