At Bruce M. Whittier Middle School students and teachers are more than willing to help out the community anyway possible.
Students recently volunteered to do the Mathathon for a very special cause. The special cause was to help kids our age at the St. Jude’s Hospital and fund research. There were eleven students who volunteered to do the Mathathon. Students who volunteered were given a math packet appropriate for their age, to answer various math questions. Students would then get pledges to raise money for the amount of questions correctly answered.
Three students raised over $100 each: Michelle Harris, Abbie Ketchen, and Tianna Linton. The grand total of all money raised was $670.15. If your school is interested in participating in the Mathathon, you can contact St. Jude’s at Stjudes.org.
