Have you once wanted to publish a book? Have you ever wanted to explore or show your writing traits and voice? That is what Bruce M. Whittier Middle School experienced.
Over a one-month period the eighth and seventh graders actively participated in writing and illustrating books for publication. Students were required to create eight typed pages, along with four illustrations. We had the opportunity to write about whatever we wanted as long as it was appropriate. Students were very anxious, as it took one month to have our books published from the time that we sent them to our publishers.
On Tuesday, February 13, we had a Book Release Open House. Approximately one hundred people attended the event, enjoyed a light snack, and celebrated our achievements. Cassie Mocciola was honored for being selected as a finalist for the Nationwide Learning National Book Challenge. Her book was called “His Name Was Shadow.”
All of Bruce M. Whittier Middle School would like to congratulate Cassie for her wonderful achievement and would like to thank the Nationwide Learning Book Challenge Company for helping us publish our books.
