JAY – The Izaak Walton League and the Paris Farmer’s Union will team up to host University of Maine County Extension representative Dave Fuller at the Paris Farmer’s Union on Route 4 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 12.

Fuller will describe how easy it is to take a random soil sample of a lawn, garden or farm field and send it by mail in a cardboard box, which he’ll provide, to the University of Maine for testing.

The university will test the soil for available nutrients and minerals important to what a person wants to grow. Applying just what is needed will save money and prevent excessive run-off pollution into the watershed.
