AUBURN – Abnaki District Executive Matt Mower announces that there are opportunities to become involved with Scouting this spring. He added that the Scouting program is not limited to the school year.
“Much of the Scouting program is based around outdoor activities. What better time exists to join Scouting than when the weather makes it easy to be outdoors,” said Mower, adding that most packs, troops and crews offer summer activities and that there is the opportunity to go to Scout Camp. Also, boys in kindergarten are eligible in June to join Tiger Cubs.
To promote the opportunities, the Abenaki District will have a booth at the Auburn Mall Community Fair on Saturday, April 17, featuring a camp display by Troop 137 of Auburn as well as Scouts from other local units.
The booth will also provide information to those interested in getting involved with local packs, troops and crews. The district will also work with local units to host additional sign-up nights and open houses.
For more information on how to get involved with Scouting, contact Matt Mower at 797-5252, ext. 33, or [email protected]. The Abnaki District serves Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Venturing in most of Androscoggin and Oxford counties.
