TURNER – Area residents can welcome March by joining classes offered by SAD 52 Adult Education of Greene, Leeds and Turner.
Let’s Scrapbook: Clarissa Brown invites beginners as well as experienced scrappers to create a story with photos and keep memories alive by making albums. The four-week class will begin Monday, March 8, at Leavitt Area High School.
Driver Education with Karen’s Driving School: A driver education class will begin Monday, March 8. Students must be 15 years on the first day of class, which will consist of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of driving. Students need to bring their original birth certificate and Social Security card to the first class.
Scrapbooking for Beginners: The class on Wednesday, March 10, will offer personal step-by-step instructions plus all the supplies to create a scrapbook page. Bring six to eight photos from a specific event. Instructor will be Kelly Cormier and the class will be held at Greene Central School.
CPR for Health Care Providers: The class will be held March 15, 17, 19 and 22 at the Adult Learning Complex. It will contain components for one- and two-person CPR for the adult, child and infant.Certification is valid for two years.
Beginner Dog Obedience: The six-week class will begin Monday, March 15, at the Turner Elementary School with instructor Donna Cassista.
Earrings for Fun: Learn the basics of making earrings from beads, seeds and fishing lures with Rema Weston on Tuesday, March 16, at the Adult Learning Complex.
Reflexology: Bette J. Swett-Thibeault will instruct the Wednesday, March 17, class at the Adult Learning Complex. Learn how massage makes the body feel stress free. Dress comfortably and be willing to work with a partner.
Baby Sitter Training: The seven-week class will begin Tuesday, March 23, with instructor Tina Green. It will teach the 10- to 14-year-old students the responsibilities of being a sitter, how to supervise the play of infants and children, how to feed, dress and change infants. They will also be instructed in American Red Cross infant and child CPR.
Maine Driving Dynamics: Maine’s “Driving Dynamics Course” will be taught by Jeff Ward on Tuesday and Thursday, March 23 and 25, at Leavitt Area High School. It will offer drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. The format will engage students with lectures, videos and class discussion/participation. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record.
Wall Pocket of Dried Flowers: Spend a few hours with Jolene Brooks on Monday, March 29, making a tiny pocket of dried flowers. Participants will make a five-inch moss covered “pocket” and fill it with a variety of arrangements.
Introduction to Representing Yourself in a Family Law Action: Patricia Weidler, an associate in the Auburn law firm of Linnell, Choate and Webber, will lead a seminar on Tuesday, March 30, at Leavitt Area High School on how participants can represent themselves in court. She will describe the court process, the potential issues, the responsibilities and rights of a party who is without representation.
