Shop volunteers present $33,000 for use in remodeling the ICU.
LEWISTON – The gift shop volunteers at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center recently presented a check for $33,000 to the hospital to help fund the capital campaign under way to benefit remodeling of the Intensive Care Unit.
Kevin Healey, vice president of Human Resources for Sisters of Charity Health System, accepted the check from St. Mary’s Gift Shop volunteers Donna Lalonde and Dot Doyle.
The gift shop services employees, visitors and the general public and is open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
A team of 22 volunteers serve in varying capacities from inventory receiving to sales cashiers under the direction of professional purchasing and management staff. This year’s gross sales was a record high, maintaining St. Mary’s status as the third largest in gross sales among hospital gift shops in Maine.
St. Mary’s Gift Shop is seeking additional volunteers. Training is available, and no experience is necessary. Those interested may contact the hospital’s Volunteer Services Dept. at 777-8369 for more information.
