PARIS – Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School’s Guidance Department hosted its annual Back to OHCHS Day on Jan. 7 for previous graduates to speak to current seniors about their experiences in college, leaving home for the first time and arriving on campus for the first time.
John Parkman, coordinator of Counseling Services K12, indicated the event was successful with full attendance and keen interest by current seniors and staff members.
“As seniors anticipating going off to college next fall, many experience a variety of feelings ranging from the pleasure derived from the prospect of acquiring independence, to the sadness of leaving family and friends. This program enables previous grads to tell current seniors what to expect in their own language and with open honesty about both the good and the bad,” he said.
Graduates who gave up some of their own vacation time to participate were: Lindsay Flick, University of Southern Maine; Geneva Robinson, Wellesley College; Catherine Howard, Lesley College; Jessie Jayne, Wentworth Institute of Technology; Amy Howard, Skidmore College; Mike Wood, Lycoming College; and Colleen Curran, Montana State.
