Students and parents are going to a hockey game after winning a safety quiz.

LEWISTON – Local 785 of the Lewiston Firefighters Association announces the winners of the Firefighters Family Night contest with the Lewiston MaineIACS. The contest was made available to all third- and fourth-grade students in the city.

Each child received a fire safety quiz, which was to be completed with a parent. The quiz consisted of relevant fire safety facts for the whole family. All participants were eligible for entry in the drawing.

The idea behind the program was to bring fire safety into the home. As a reward for completing the quiz, all children who returned the attached entry form were entered into a drawing that made them eligible for up to four family members to attend a Lewiston MaineIACS game. It gave a family the ability to spend an evening together and learn fire safety basics.

Fifty children, and their 150 guest winners will attend the Saturday, Dec. 20, game.
