LEWISTON – The Rev. S. Clifton Ives, United Methodist bishop of the West Virginia area, will be the guest preacher at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Thanksgiving Sunday, Nov. 23, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St.

The service is part of a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of Calvary’s building. Ives will speak about children and the church’s ministry in the next 100 year.

Ives’ father, the Rev. Alfred Ives, was the pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church in the 1950s.

Bishop Ives is a graduate of Lewiston High School. Before his election to the episcopacy in 1992 Bishop Ives was the superintendent of the Southern District of the Maine Conference and served churches in Cape Elizabeth, Bangor and Waterville.

The public is invited to the service.
